Interim tariff of levies to be collected by CPCC in 2010 on the sale of blank audio recording media, in Canada, in respect of the reproduction for private use of musical works embodied in sound recordings, of performers’ performances of such works and of sound recordings in which such works and performances are embodied
Reasons for decision
The Canadian Private Copying Collective (CPCC) filed with the Board a proposed tariff for private copying in 2010. Hearings dealing with the proposed tariff were held on November 24 and 25, 2009. The matter is currently under advisement.
CPCC asks, pursuant to section 66.51 of the Copyright Act, that the Board extend to 2010, on an interim basis, the application of the final tariff the Board certified on December 6, 2008 for the years 2008 and 2009. The Board grants the application.
