RULING OF THE BOARD

 

Proceeding: SOCAN Online Music Services Tariff (2007-2018)

April 26, 2023

 

  • [1] On April 12, 2023, SOCAN filed an application (the “Application”) under paragraph 69(b) of the Copyright Act to exclude from the approved tariff certain acts set out in the following proposed tariffs: SOCAN – Online Music Services for the years 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 (the “Proposed Tariffs”).

  • [2] On April 24, 2023, Pandora, an objector to the Proposed Tariffs and a party to this proceeding, wrote to the Board to indicate it would appreciate the opportunity to make comments on the Application.

  • [3] The Board is amenable to permitting Pandora to make comments, but these must be limited to the relevant statutory criteria (sections 69 and 69.1 of the Copyright Act).

  • [4] Pandora may file comments by May 10, 2023.

  • [5] SOCAN may file a response by May 17, 2023.
