RULING OF THE BOARD

 

Matter: 71-2023-01 Totem v. Connect

May 19, 2023

[1] On May 5, 2023, Totem Medias Inc. (“Totem Medias”) filed an application under section 71 of the Copyright Act. Totem Medias is requesting that the Board fix the royalties that it pays to Connect Music Licensing Service Inc (“Connect”) for the right to reproduce published sound recordings in Connect’s repertoire for the purpose of providing a background music service.

[2] On May 12, 2023, Connect requested leave to submit comments on the application.

[3] The request is granted. Connect may file its comments by Friday, June 16, 2023.

[4] Totem Medias may reply by Friday, June 30, 2023.
