Notice Pursuant to Section 5 of the Time Limits in Respect of Matters Before the Copyright Board Regulations

I. Proposed Tariffs for Which the Board Will Hold a Hearing

[1] Pursuant to Section 5 of the Time Limits in Respect of Matters Before the Copyright Board Regulations (SOR/2020-264) (“the Regulations”), the Board hereby notifies the collective societies and any person or entity having filed an objection to the following proposed tariffs, published by the Board on November 17, 2025, that hearings will be held in respect of the following proposed tariffs:

  • Artisti – Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Tariff (2027-2029)

  • Artisti – Pay Audio Tariff (2027-2029)

  • Artisti – Satellite Radio Tariff (2027-2029)

  • Re:Sound Tariff 3.A – Background Music Suppliers (2027-2031)

  • Re:Sound Tariff 3.B – Background Music (2027-2031)

  • SOCAN Tariff 9 – Sports Events (2027-2029)

  • SOCAN Tariff 22.A – Online Music Services (2027-2029)

  • SOCAN Tariff 22.B – Internet - Commercial Radio (2027-2029)

  • SOCAN Tariff 22.C – Internet - Other Audio Services (2027-2029)

  • SOCAN Tariff 22.D.1 – Online Audiovisual Services (2027-2029)

  • SOCAN Tariff 22.D.1.R – Online Audiovisual Reproduction (2027-2029)

  • SOCAN Tariff 22.D.2 – User-generated Content Services (2027-2029)

  • SOCAN Tariff 22.D.3 – Allied Audiovisual Services (2027-2029)

  • SOCAN Tariff 22.E – Internet - Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (2027-2029)

  • SOCAN Tariff 22.G – Internet - Game Services (2027-2029)

  • SOCAN Tariff 25 – Satellite Radio Services (2027-2029)

  • CMRRA and SOCAN – Non-Commercial Radio Reproduction(2027-2029)

 

[2] The Board will provide, in due time, further direction for the examination of each of the proposed tariffs, including whether related hearings will be oral or written, or both.

[3] In order to increase the efficiency of its proceedings, the Board generally favours written hearings and written submissions, and proceeds by oral hearing only when deemed necessary.

II. Proposed Tariffs for Which the Board Will Not Hold a Hearing

[4] The Board hereby gives notice that no hearing will be held in respect of the following proposed tariffs, also published by the Board on November 17, 2025

  • CBRA – Media Monitoring Tariffs (2027-2029)

  • CMRRA, SOCAN, CONNECT/Panorama, and Artisti – Commercial Radio Reproduction Tariff (2027-2029)

[5] Consequently, as per paragraph 2(b) of the Regulations, the Board will issue its decisions with respect to these proposed tariffs before their effective period begins; that is, before January 1, 2027.
