via email: gilles.mcdougall@cb-cda.gc.ca Dear Mr. McDougall: Re: SOCAN Tariffs (2019-2020) This letter constitutes the statement of objections of the Hotel Association of Canada (HAC) in respect of the following proposed royalties filed by SOCAN for the Public Performance or the Communication to the Public by Telecommunication, in Canada, of Musical or Dramatico-Musical Works for the years 2019 and beyond, as published in the Canada Gazette on May 5, 2018:

Tariff No. 3.A – Live Music (2019) Tariff No. 8 – Receptions, Conventions, Assemblies and Fashion Shows (2019-2020) Tariff No. 15.A – Background Music (2019) Tariff No. 15.B – Telephone Music on Hold (2019) Tariff No. 18 – Recorded Music for Dancing (2019-2020) Tariff No. 24 – Ringtones and Ringbacks (2019)

The HAC objects to the proposed terms and rates of these tariffs and looks forward to presenting evidence in support of these and any other objections that might arise over the course of the Copyright Board proceeding.
