Copyright Board Commission du droit d’auteur Canada Canada [TRANSLATION] Ottawa, March 14, 2003 FILE 2003-UO/TI-07 UNLOCATABLE COPYRIGHT OWNERS Non-exclusive licence issued to the Conseil supérieur de la langue française, Québec, Quebec, for the reproduction of two visual art works

Pursuant to the provisions of subsection 77(1) of the Copyright Act, the Copyright Board issues a licence to the Conseil supérieur de la langue française as follows:

(1) The licence authorizes the reproduction, in the work Le français au Québec : 400 ans d'histoire et de vie published by the Conseil supérieur de la langue française and Fides, of the following works:

the cover page of the book entitled Mon premier livre de lecture, published by Granger Frères in 1956; and

a cartoon created by Henri Letondal that appeared in the Almanach de la langue française in 1924.

No more than 2000 copies will be reproduced. Issuance of this licence does not release the licensee from the obligation to obtain permission for any other use not covered by this licence.

(2) The licence expires on December 31, 2003. Any authorized reproduction must be completed by this date.

(3) The licence is non-exclusive and valid only in Canada. For other countries, it is the law of that country that applies.

(4) The Conseil supérieur de la langue française will pay the sum of $147 ($85 for the book cover page and $62 for the cartoon) to the Société de droits d’auteur des artistes en arts visuels (SODART), which may dispose of the amount of the royalties set by the licence as it sees fit for the general benefit of its members. It undertakes, however, to reimburse any

- 2 - person who establishes, before December 31, 2008, ownership of the copyright in one of the works covered by this licence.

(5) The coming into force of this licence is conditional on SODART filing with the Board the receipt for the amount of royalties set in the licence, accompanied by an undertaking by SODART to comply with the conditions set out in paragraph (4) above.
