Ottawa, May 10, 2004 FILE: 2004-UO/TI-12 UNLOCATABLE COPYRIGHT OWNERS Non-exclusive licence issued to Dr. Paul Jackson, Montréal, Quebec, for the reproduction of a cartoon by Stewart Cameron Pursuant to the provisions of subsection 77(1) of the Copyright Act, the Copyright Board grants a licence to Dr. Paul Jackson, as follows: (1) The licence authorizes the reproduction of a cartoon by Stewart Cameron (1912-1970) entitled “Réveille” published in 1943 in Stewart Cameron's book Training Daze: candid cartoons of you and me in the army (publisher unknown). The cartoon will be reproduced in the book entitled One of the Boys: Homosexuality in the Military During the Second World War to be published by McGill-Queen's University Press. No more than 800 copies of the book will be made. (2) The licence expires on December 31, 2004. The authorized reproduction must therefore be completed by that date. (3) The licence is non-exclusive and valid only in Canada. For other countries, it is the law of that country that applies. (4) The issuance of this licence does not release the applicant from the obligation to obtain permission for any other use not covered by this licence. (5) The applicant will pay the sum of $81 to the Société de droits d'auteur en arts visuels (SODART) who will dispose of the amount as it sees fit for the general benefit of its members and that of the Canadian Artists' Representation Copyright Collective (CARCC). SODART undertakes, however, to reimburse any person who establishes before December 31, 2009, ownership of the copyright of the work covered by this licence. (6) The coming into force of this licence is conditional on the filing with the Board of SODART's undertaking to comply with the conditions set out in paragraph (5) above.
