FILE: 2006-UO/TI-42 UNLOCATABLE COPYRIGHT OWNER Non-exclusive licence issued to Dan Janzen, Surrey, B.C., authorizing the incorporation of various sounds into his sound recordings and their reproduction as an integral part of those sound recordings Pursuant to the provisions of subsection 77(1) of the Copyright Act (“Act”), the Copyright Board grants a licence to Dan Janzen as follows: (1) The licence authorizes, in so far as a licence is required, the incorporation of the copyright subject matters into the licensee's sound recordings and their reproduction as an integral part of those sound recordings onto CD for the following: As work, sound recording and performer's performance: One drum loop 5 seconds long from the record El Guapo Breaks, by DJ Mondee, released in 2001 by Tableturns Inc. to be incorporated in the sound recording entitled Nothing Hidden (3 subject matters). One drum loop with a three-note baseline 12 seconds long from the record Buck Weezy Battle Break, by M-Boogie, released in 2000 by Blackberry Records to be incorporated in the sound recording entitled Evidence (3 subject matters). One vocal statement (“idea number 41, rhythm number 1”) 4 seconds long - from the record Focul Point - Tools of Destruction, by DJ Focus, released in 1997 by Focul Point Records to be incorporated in the sound recording entitled Idea #41 (Rhythm #1) (3 subject matters). As sound recording and performer's performance: Six short vocal statements (“you wanna hear something”, “like what”, “it's kinda hard to explain”, “drop it”, “can I ask what you were doing”, “just trying some new stuff”) from Scratch Weapons Volume 1 Battle Tools (artist unknown), released by SWV Records (year unknown) to be incorporated in the sound recording entitled Something Like This (12 subject matters). No more than 200 copies of the CD will be made.

This licence does not release the licensee from the obligation to obtain permission for any other use not covered in this licence. (2) The licence expires on December 31, 2007. The authorized reproduction must therefore be completed by this date. The licence is also retroactive and authorizes reproductions made before it was issued. (3) The licence is non-exclusive and valid only in Canada. For other countries, it is the law of that country that applies. (4) The licensee will pay 0,01 $ multiplied by the number of CDs made to each person who establishes, before December 31, 2012, ownership of the copyright in a subject matter covered by this licence. (5) The coming into force of this licence is conditional on the licensee filing with the Board his undertaking to comply with the conditions set out in paragraph (4) above.
