Non-exclusive licence issued to John S. Long, North Bay, ON, authorizing the reproduction of an article entitled “The White Dog Feast” written by Joseph Vanasse in 1907

Pursuant to the provisions of subsection 77(1) of the Copyright Act, the Copyright Board grants a licence to John S. Long, as follows:

(1) The licence authorizes the reproduction of an article entitled “The White Dog Feast” written by Joseph Vanasse published in The Canadian Magazine of Politics, Science, Art and Literature, v. 30, no. 1, November 1907, for the inclusion in a book entitled “Trick or Treaty No. 9: Making the Agreement to Share the Land in Far Northern Ontario in 1905”.

No more than 1,000 copies of the book shall be printed.

The issuance of the licence does not release the licensee from the obligation to obtain permission for any other use not covered by this licence.

(2) The licence expires on April 29, 2015. All books must be manufactured by that date.

(3) The licence is non-exclusive and valid only in Canada. For other countries, it is the law of that country that applies.

(4) The Licensee shall ensure that the following credit is prominently displayed with the work in all copies of the book:

“The White Dog Feast authored by Joseph Vanasse is used with permission under a non-exclusive licence issued by the Copyright Board of Canada in cooperation with Access Copyright, The Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency.”

(5) The licensee will pay to Access Copyright, The Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency, a royalty fee of $82.50. Access Copyright may dispose of the amount as it sees f it f or the general benefit of its members. It undertakes, however, to reimburse any person who establishes, before April 29, 2020, ownership of copyright of the work covered by this licence.

(6) The coming into force of this licence is conditional on Access Copyright filing with the Board a notice of receipt which confirms that the royalties, as specified in paragraph (5) above, have been received and that Access Copyright undertakes to comply with the conditions set out in same.
