Pursuant to the provisions of section 77(1) of the Copyright Act, the Copyright Board grants a licence to Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Ontario as represented by the Ministry of Education and Training (the "Ministry") as follows:

(1) The licence authorizes the reproduction of the work entitled Mr. Gilligan's Goat by Joan Weston (two pages as originally published in an anthology by Nelson Canada in 1986) in a new anthology published by the Ministry entitled The Ontario Curriculum Exemplars: Reading (the “Reading Anthology”).

The number of copies printed shall not exceed 200,000. (2) The authorized reproduction of the Mr. Gilligan's Goat is for inclusion in the Reading Anthology which shall only be available for free distribution to Ontario teachers and education staff. The Reading Anthology containing Mr. Gilligan's Goat may not be sold.

(3) The licence expires on December 31, 2000. The authorized reproduction must therefore be completed by that date.

(4) The licence is non-exclusive and valid only in Canada. (5) The Ministry will pay the sum of $500 to the Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency (CANCOPY) who will dispose of the amount as it sees fit for the general benefit of its members. It undertakes, however, to reimburse any person who establishes, before December 31, 2005, ownership of the copyright in the work covered in this licence.

(6) The coming into force of this licence is conditional on the applicant's filing with the Board a receipt from CANCOPY for the amount of the royalty specified in the licence, accompanied by CANCOPY's undertaking to comply with the conditions set out in paragraph (5) above.
