Ottawa, January 12, 2001 FILE: 2000-UO/TI-18 UNLOCATABLE COPYRIGHT OWNER Non-exclusive licence issued to The Beaver, Canada's History Magazine, for the reproduction of a painting by Kenneth Keith Forbes Pursuant to the provisions of subsection 77(1) of the Copyright Act, the Copyright Board grants a licence to The Beaver, Canada's History Magazine, as follows: (1) The licence authorizes the reproduction of an image of the 1924 painting Girl Ironing by Kenneth Keith Forbes, published in the Catalogue of the National Gallery of Canada: Canadian Art Volume One, in 1988. No more than 45,000 copies of the work shall be reproduced. Issuance of this licence does not release the applicant from the obligation to obtain permission for any other use not covered by this licence. (2) The licence expires on December 31, 2001. The authorized use and reproduction must therefore be completed by that date. (3) The licence is non-exclusive and valid only in Canada. For other countries, it is the law of that country that applies. (4) The Beaver, Canada's History Magazine will pay the sum of $150 to the Canadian Artists' Representation Copyright Collective (CARCC). CARCC may dispose of the amount as it sees fit for the general benefit of its members. It undertakes, however, to reimburse any person who establishes, before December 31, 2006, ownership of the copyright of the work covered by this licence. (5) The coming into force of this licence is conditional on the filing with the Board of a receipt from CARCC for the amount of the royalty specified in the licence, accompanied by CARCC's undertaking to comply with the conditions set out in paragraph (4) above.
