Copyright Board Commission du droit d’auteur Canada Canada [TRANSLATION] Ottawa, October 13, 2000 FILE 2000-UO/TI-23 UNLOCATABLE COPYRIGHT OWNERS Non-exclusive licence issued to Conseil de la langue française, Québec, Quebec, authorizing the reproduction of two works of visual art

Pursuant to the provisions of subsection 77(1) of the Copyright Act, the Copyright Board issues a licence to Conseil de la langue française, as follows:

(1) The licence authorizes the reproduction, in the book Le français au Québec : 400 ans d'histoire et de vie that will be published by Conseil de la langue française and Fides, (1) the cover page of the book titled Mon premier livre de lecture published by Granger Frères in 1956, and (2) a caricature by Henri Letondal published in 1924 in l'Almanach de la langue française.

No more than 5000 copies shall be reproduced. Issuance of this licence does not release the licensee from the obligation to obtain permission for any other use not covered by this licence.

(2) The licence expires on December 31, 2000. Authorized reproduction must be completed before this date.

(3) The licence is non-exclusive and valid only in Canada. For other countries, it is the law of that country that applies.

(4) Conseil de la langue française will pay the sum of $196 ($113 for the cover page and $83 for the caricature) to the Société de droits d'auteur en arts visuels (SODART), which may dispose of the amount of the royalties set by the licence as it sees fit for the general benefit of its members. SODART undertakes, however, to reimburse any person who establishes, before December 31, 2005, ownership of the copyright in any of the works covered by this licence.

(5) The coming into force of this licence is conditional on SODART filing with the Board the receipt for the amount of royalties set in the licence, accompanied by an undertaking by SODART to comply with the conditions set out in paragraph (4) above.
